Holly Grove Restoration
December 3rd, 9:30 - 12:30
Please join the Friends of Greenwich Point
for continuation of Phase II of the restoration of the
Holly Grove.
The Holly Grove, planted in 1959, was a gift to Greenwich Point by Mr. & Mrs. Kitchel in celebration of their 50th wedding anniversary. Twenty-one holly species were planted and while time has seen many of them thrive, time has also taken a toll on the Grove. In celebration of the Friends of Greenwich Point's 60th anniversary we are working with the Town to restore the Holly Grove. This project seemed fitting as Mrs. Kitchel was instrumental in the formation of the Friends of Greenwich Point (formerly known as the Greenwich Point Committee).
Phase I of the project completed on April 10th included removal of all ground debris (sticks, limbs...) and removal of most of the vines from existing hollies. Phase II includes the continuation of vine and invasive plant removal. We hope that you will join us as we work to complete Phase II.
