Horseshoe Crabs are Coming: Project Limulus
The day will be full of exciting opportunities to participate and learn more about Project Limulus, an ongoing study of the Horseshoe Crab. Don’t miss this opportunity to spot and tag Horseshoe Crabs on the Greenwich Point Beach, discuss the research project with people involved, and hear a presentation on the ecology of this often seen but not well known creature. There is a chance that participants will get wet during some segments of this program, please dress accordingly! We will be meeting at the Innis Arden Cottage. Presented by the Friends of Greenwich Point, Town of Greenwich, Sacred Heart University, and the Bruce Museum. Cook your Buns Run & BBQ Friday, June 7, 6:30pm
Kick off your summer with a friendly 3 mile run for adults and a 1 mile run for children along the trails and roads of Greenwich Point. After the run join family and friends for a barbecue; burgers, hotdogs, fresh salads, watermelon and Two Roads Brewery beer. This year the Friends of Greenwich Point has been selected as the event’s charity recipient. The event is presented by Threads & Treads and sponsored by Whole Foods. Bossy Frog Children’s Concert Wednesday, June 19, 10:00am
A fun and funky musical experience for children ages 2-8. The concert is being held in the Seaside Garden located across from the Old Greenwich Yacht Club. Bring a blanket or chairs. Sponsored by the Friends of Greenwich Point. Rain date July 2nd.
Experience the Sound Sunday, June 23, 1:00-4:00pm
Discover the many and varied activities living on or near the Sound provides. Learn about the organizations working to protect, preserve and improve Greenwich Point and Long Island Sound. There will be over 35 exhibitors, a Historical Society sponsored bike ride around the Point and several boats moored at the OGYC dock for visitors. Presented by the Greenwich Shellfish Commission.
Seaside Center Opens Sunday, June 23, 11:00am-5:00pm
Drop in and explore the local shore and marine life. Daily activities at the Center may include guided nature walks, marine organism anatomy dissections, plankton viewing with microscopes, arts and crafts and much more. Visitors can also enjoy the dioramas, interactive exhibits and live specimens in the marine-life touch tanks and aquariums.
Fairfield Counts Concert Sunday, June 23, 5:00pm
Enjoy one of the East Coast’s premier big bands playing hits from the ‘20’s to today, featuring the music of Glenn Miller, Tommy Dorsey, Duke Ellington, Harry James and the great Count Basie. The concert is being held in the Seaside Garden located across from the Old Greenwich Yacht Club. Be sure to bring your chair and refreshments. Sponsored by the Friends of Greenwich Point.
